- that there are over 550 NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGES as part of the US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE?
- that there are over 250 FRIENDS groups and most are part of the NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE ASSOCIATION?
- that Sam Hamilton, Director of the SE Region of Refuges, has been nominated by President Obama to be the new Director of the USFWS? Sam will be the first career system biologist to hold that position.
- that the Friends of Loxahatchee are part of the EVERGLADES COALITION, an umbrella group of 52 organizations constantly battling those that would erode the Everglades?
- that the Refuge newsletter, coming out in September, THE TURTLE RIVER TIMES, is fully funded by the Friends?
- that we need you to volunteer? Nothing will run without you. We need you in the Visitor Center, in the Gift Shop, in the Administration Building, with our researchers, as docents, as videographers, as website assistants, as speakers, in maintenance, etc.
