Hi All!

A Refuge Committee headed up by Sylvia Pelizza and Rolf Olson is scheduled to visit Southern Custom Exhibits in Alabama around Sept. 10 for a final inspection before the exhibits are disassembled and packed for transport. When the trucks arrive at the Refuge around Sept. 14 the Visitor Center may have to be closed for several days during the installation process. There will be an email and website advisory on this. Following installation there will be several days of staff and volunteer training. If you are a volunteer you will be notified.

The Gala Opening Reception on October 15 is by invitation to major donors, agency, and government officials. The Saturday, October 17 Public Opening is for everyone. Besides the new video in the auditorium and the exhibits themselves, there is a full day of activities planned. More on this next time but do save the date.

"It is imperative to maintain portions of the wilderness untouched so that a tree will rot where it falls, a waterfall will pour its curve without generating electricity, and a trumpeter swan may float on uncontaminated water."     Bernard de Voto (1947)

...and the Everglades may...  Please finish the sentence in the spirit of de Voto and email me. I'll print it here next month.
