HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!
Thanks to everyone for working
so hard to help make 2009 a big success for the Refuge and
the Friends. The new exhibits are bringing many new
visitors, as well as new volunteers, new members, and new
donors.
George Berman, our industrious webmaster, has
established a Pay Pal credit card link that has already
brought us several large donations. He also has started a
Photo Corps to cover Refuge events both for publicity
releases and website postings.
The Friends are now
part of the PBC Convention and Visitors Bureau whose website
is giving us great exposure, and this past weekend saw a
film crew at the Refuge shooting to prepare a Public Service
Announcement for airing on the local TV stations.
Please keep Sunday afternoon January 24th commencing at 1 PM
free for our Annual Meeting that will include keynote
speaker Dr. Len Berry from FAU on Climate Change and the
Everglades as well as some great refreshments and
camaraderie.
Before you know it Everglades Day will
be here. The date for our annual all day free festival is
Saturday, February 6th. The theme-Arts in the Everglades.
The featured guest presenters-noted photographers Clyde
Butcher and Kenn Kaufman.
