We Need
Volunteers!
On your visits, have you noticed folks working throughout the Refuge who
were not dressed in the Fish & Wildlife uniform? Conducting
interpretive walks, answering questions in the Visitor Center, helping
with the store? If you have, then you have seen the volunteer program in
action. We have over 100 active volunteers who collectively contribute
over 10,000 hours of service to the Wildlife Refuge every year.
There are many different ways that you can help the Refuge, and it
doesn't require a massive commitment. In fact, there are some
volunteer jobs (like Webmaster) that can be done from the comfort of
home. These opportunities include:
-
Staffing the gift shop and reception desk
-
Conducting interpretive walks
-
Undertaking maintenance
on the boardwalk, trails, butterfly garden, etc.
-
Editing/writing for our newsletter, Gator Tails
-
Fundraising
-
Organizing events
-
Graphic design
