The Stunt Plane Video

In early March, 2008, Robert Jonas visited the Refuge from his home in Massachusetts.  During the three days of his visit, a pilot practiced aerobatics at a low altitude, seriously disturbing the peace of the Refuge.
Bob caught it all on video. Along with his nearly-poetic narration, this video makes an extraordinary case for the value of places like the Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge in our lives.  The intrusive plane, with its noise and its antics, doesn't distract from Bob's message, but rather provides a powerful contrast.
Click here to watch the video.  It's best in full-screen mode: click on the double-rectangle in the bottom-right corner of the window.

As a footnote, we have since learned from members of the nearby Willis Gliderport community that the pilot in question was a manufacturer of a plane he was testing to enter in the Red Bull aerobatics competition and that he has since left the area.   There is an Aerobatics Box designated northeast of the main Refuge entrance where you may find stunt planes practicing from time to time, but hopefully you will not experience them with quite the intensity that Robert did.  Thanks to Robert for this fabulous footage!
